Sveiki gyvi. Dar viena apžvalga: ir vėl viskis, ir vėl škotiškas. Šįkart uostysim ir ragausim salyklinius viskius iš Glen Garioch distilerijos. Tai distilerija, kuri iš esmės nėra labai matoma ar dažnai aptariama. Netgi tarp didelių „geek’ų” yra praleidžiama pro akis. Ir manau labai be reikalo. Beabejo, distilerija nėra labai didelė. Per metus išdistiliuoja virš milijono litrų distiliato. „Garioch” pavadinimo dalis tariama „GEE-RIE”, kas reiškia šiurkštų gruntą/nelygumą.

Glen Garioch 15YO, 51.9%, Renaissance 1st Chapter, Burbono ir Chereso statinės, 12000 butelių, NCF/CS, OB, 2014
Beje, tai viena iš seniausių, iki šiol veikiančių distilerijų, įkurta 1797 metais. Nosis. Pilna, kvapni ir rūgšti. Netgi, truputį minerališka. Įvairūs rūgštūs vaisiai: obuoliai, kriaušės, apelsinai ir kiviai. Toliau seka bičių duonelė, gėliškumas, apelsinų likeris, vyšnios. Po daugiau nei pusvalandžio atklysta natos apie daržoviškumą ir riešutus. H2O. Atsiranda medus ir vaškas. Skonis. Gerokai griežtesnis nei kvapas, su gana stipriai besireiškiančiu ąžuolu. Šiek tiek saldokas. Čia atsiranda vanilės, karamelės užuominos. Momentais kokoso riešuto baltymas. Skonyje randu daugiau minerališkumo, kartumo, chereso statinių. Kas dar? Medus, vaškas, citrusų žievės, kaulavaisiai ir medžio anglis. Pats kūnas neskystas, smagiai veliasi burnoje, liežuviui yra ką veikti. Daržoviškumas mažesnis. H2O. Čia vanduo iššaukia didesnį saldumą ir karčius taninus. Poskonis. Vidutinio ilgumo. Salyklo, citrusų ir juodos arbatos natos. Mano trys centai. Šauniai sukurptas viskis. Visgi, nosis man labiausiai patiko, bet skonis turi gerą kūną, nors balansas galėtų būti ir geresnis. Bendrai, tai smagus ir labai geriamas salyklas, netgi neįpareigojančiai. 86 taškai.

Glen Garioch 16YO, 51.4%, Renaissance 2nd Chapter, Burbono ir Chereso statinės, NCF/CS, OB, 2016
Šioje distilerijoje „floor maltings” procesas 1993 metais skaičiavo paskutines dienas. Tad šis viskis nedalyvavo šiame procese, kaip bebūtų gaila. Nosis. Aha, o jau čia mano supratimu chereso randu daugiau. Pats chereso dvelksmas labiau žoliškesnis. Nors chereso daugiau, bet kvapas atrodo gaivesnis, vaisiškesnis ir švaresnis. Bet panašumų tikrai neįmanoma nepastebėti. Rūgštus vaisiai, medus, šiltas sviestas, kažkiek vaško. Lengvos užuominos apie mėsos prieskonius. Ir menka kvapo gija apie distiliatą. H2O. Atskleidžia minerališką pusę, o pats viskis pasidaro dar šviežesnis, netgi gaivinantis. Skonis. Ramesnis ir elegantiškesnis nei pirmojo. Vėlgi stipriai reiškiasi žoliškumas, bet ažuolo taninų mažiau. Labai smagi dalis, kad iš kvapo įvairūs rūgštus vaisiai persikelia ir į skonį. Salykliškai ir vaisiškai saldus. Uogų džemas ir aštrūs mėsos prieskoniai. H2O. Iššaukia didesnį saldumą ir aštrumą, o kartumas sumažėja. Poskonis. Kažkur tarp trumpo ir vidutinio. Labai sausinantis, prieskoningas, rūgštokas ir silpnai kartus. Mano trys centai. Manau būčiau ėjęs didesniam įvertinimui, bet poskonis pasirodė silpnesnis, tad 86 taškai. Bet, ei, tai nieko nekeičia, viskis kokybiškas ir tikrai turi savo 15 minučių šlovės.

Glen Garioch 17YO, 50.8%, Renaissance 3rd Chapter, Burbono ir Chereso statinės, 12000 butelių, NCF/CS, OB, 2017
Tarp kitko, paskutinį kartą distilerija buvo uždaryta tarp 1995 – 1997 metų. Su tuo įvykiu taip pat pakito distilerijos salyklinių viskių braižas. Nosis. Gerai, tarp pirmo ir antro leidimu radau ne taip mažai panašumų, bet čia mano supratimu yra šiek tiek nutolstama nuo pirmųjų dviejų ir bandoma pakurti kažką kitokio. Gyvas, skaidrus, švarus, labai aromatingas, stipriai minerališkas ir žemiškas. Mėtiniai ledinukai, medžio anglis, spygliuočių spygliai, tabletės, rūgštus vaisių jogurtas, eukaliptas, pelynų arbata ir tropiniai vaisiai. Artimesnis iki 1995 metų išleistiems viskiams. Laikui bėgant šie „baisūs” kvapai sėda. Prie jų prisideda skrudinti riešutai ir trupininis pyragas. H2O. Didesnių pokyčių neradau, gal kiek pasidarė skrudintas ir gėliškesnis. Skonis. Aliejingas. Blemba, dalis kvapo persikėlė ir į skonį. Daug kartaus žoliškumo. Mėtos, mairūnas, bazilikas ir čiobrelis. Toks labiau arbatiškas, nei salykliškas. Momentais lenda liepos žiedų arbata, kuri sušvelnina stiprų žoliškumą. Tabletės taip pat atsiridena. Šiek tiek jūriškas ir minerališkas. H2O. Minkštesnis, apvalesnis ir su geresniu balansu. Poskonis. Trumpokas. Kartus, aštrus, arbatiškas, su tamsaus medaus prieskoniu. Mano trys centai. Šiuo atveju kitoniškumas suveikė labai gerai. Nėra taip gerai nušlifuotas, kaip pirmieji du. Turi savo charakterį ir to iš jo neatimsi. 88 taškai.

Glen Garioch 18YO, 50.2%, Renaissance 4th Chapter, Burbono ir Chereso statinės, NCF/CS, OB, 2018
Taigi, paskutinis serijos dalyvis. Beabejo, jis yra vyriausias, bet šiaip visi šie viskiai buvo išdistiliuoti apie 1998 – 2000 metus. Nosis. Maloni, aromatinga ir jau susigulėjusi, bet vis dar turinti savo momentų. Grūdų malūnas, rūgštūs vaisiai, vanilės ankštis, įvairūs skrudinti riešutai ir vėl grįžtantis trupininis pyragas. Randu ir sodo, ir tropinius vaisius, nors jų nėra daug. Momentais ausis kiša minerališkumas, tabletės, eukaliptas ir mėtiniai ledinukai. H2O. Skleidžiasi įvairūs saldūs kepiniai, duona, šviežia bandelė ir karamelė. Skonis. Saldokas, išraiškingas, kartus ir pakankamai galingas. Ne toks civilizuotas kaip nosis. Daug skonyje ąžuolo, turbūt daugiausiai iš visų. Kažkiek arbatiškas, linkčiau link pelynų ir juodosios arbatos. Kas dar? Sodo vaisiai, rūgščios vyšnios, apelsinai ir vanilinis pyragas. Trūksta balanso. Nėra aiškios atsvaros ąžuolui. H2O. Ramesnis, labiau išbaigtas, atsiranda geresnis balansas. Panašu, kad yra geras plaukikas. Poskonis. Vidutinio ilgumo ir sausas. Apelsinai, citrusų žievės kartumas ir juodoji arbata. Mano trys centai. Bandymas sukurpti pirmų dviejų ir trečio leidimo bruožus į vieną viskį. Jei nuoširdžiai, tai pavykęs bandymas. Vienu užpakaliu užsėsti dvi kėdes, kodėl ne? 87 taškai.

Reikia kažko kitko iš Glen Gyri. Gal iš ’90 metų?

Glen Garioch 24YO, 1990/2015, 55.5%, A.D. Rattray, Burbono statinė (hogshead), Statinės nr. 7947, 224 buteliai, Alba Import, NCF/NCA/SC/CS
Iki 1979 metų Glen Gyri viskiai buvo pytinami daug labiau. Gaila, šiandien to vintažo viskių neturime ant ragavimo stalo, bet turime ’90 metų vintažą, kuris jau turi kitokį stilių. Nosis. Gili, kompaktiška, gėliška, labai skaidri, netgi pjaunanti. Pasitikimas su trupučiu dūmelio, saldaus tabako, druska, žolelėmis ir alyvuogėmis. Šiek tiek žoliškas ir žemiškas. Kažkiek prieskonių, kaip juodieji pipirai, bazilikas ir muskato riešutas. Turi ir tropinių, kaip ir skrudintų reikalų pusę. Išties kompleksiška nosis. H2O aktyvina dūmo ir skrudintų reikalų natas. Obuolių actas. Skonis. Oi, vau, išties rūgštus, kažkiek primena raicilla gėrimą. Pats kūnas tirštas, galingas, lengvai kartokas ir jokių požymių, kad būtų pavargęs. Kažkur antrame plane plevėsuoja dūmelis. Toliau pradeda reikštis vaškas, tamsus medus, eukaliptas, mėtos, minerališkumas ir baltas pipiras. Negaliu nepaminėti, kad turi būdingą tropiniams vaisiams saldumą. Riešutiškas ir salykliškas. Mano nuomone skonis nei per plauką nenusileidžia kvapui. H2O. Truputį saldesnis, salykliškesnis, rūgštesnis ir su dar daugiau kūno. Geras plaukikas. Poskonis. Ilgas ir ne kitaip. Šildantis, besikandžiojantis, prieskoningas ir kažkiek dūmiškas. Mano trys centai. Ieškau jam imtynių partnerio. Tuojau pat, negaliu taip palikti. 91 taškas

Glen Garioch 26YO, 1991/2017, 55.6%, Douglas Laing, XOP, Pakartotinio pildymo statinė (refill hogshead), Statinės nr. DL11761, 263 buteliai, NCF/NCA/SC/CS
Štai ir konkurencija. ’91 vintažas ir pora metų daugiau praleistų statinėje. Na na? Nosis. Ok, panašu, kad 91 metais nebuvo naudota daug durpės, kad salyklas būtų įsodrintas šiuo malonumu. Momentais primena Springbank viskius. Kas toliau? Labai kvapnus, rafinuotas, pilnas, švarus, gėliškas ir šiek tiek minerališkas. Kvapas primena kepėjo užeigą su savo ką tik keptomis bandelėmis, pyragais, duonomis. Lovely. Turi ir medaus – vaško pusę. Taip pat ir tropiniai vaisiai nesnaudžia. Turim labai stiprų konkurentą! H2O. Neprinokę vaisiai, muskato riešutas, bananai ir sviestiniai sausainiai. Skonis. Čia pasitinka kompleksiškumas, gilumas, skaidrumas ir daug charakterio. Tirštas, galingas, rūgštus, žoliškas, netgi traškus. Daugiau kartumo nei ’90 vintaže. Tropinius vaisius papildo sodo vaisiai. Minerališkumo išties daug…druska. Šiame paveiksle karamelė ir citrusų rūgštis susigroja puikiai. Taip pat, kaip ir nosis, turi keptą pusę. H2O iššaukia didesnį saldumą, juodąją arbatą ir žoleles. Poskonis. Ilgas. Truputį riešutiškas, saldokas, salykliškas ir su lengvu minerališkumo dzingtelėjimu. Mano trys centai. Manau didesnis durpės naudojimas šiuose Glen Gyri viskiuose sukuria papildomą kvapų ir skonių dimensiją. Šiame vintaže truputį to truko, bet ką jau čia. 90 taškų.

Manau pirmi du viskiai kažkuria prasme ėjo Macallan keliu, tai yra šlifuojant savo viskius. Trečias, tai bandymas ieškoti savęs, kas man labai patiko. Ketvirtas, tai bandymas įtikti skirtingiems viskio mylėtojams ir kodėl ne? Jiems irgi reikia gyventi.
Kas apie ’90 ir ’91 metų vintažus, tai tiesiog puikūs savo laikmečio viskiai, kurie vis labiau atrandami dabar. Turintis lengvas užuominas iš Springbank, Clynelish, Ben Nevis distilerijų, kurias stipriai papildo to meto Glen Garioch charakteris.
Šiandien buvo išties puikus vakaras, bet kaip sako viename filmuke „metas atsisveikinti”. Iki kitų susiragavimų. Likite sveiki ir stiprūs.
